Introduction to GlastonburyGlastonbury is an extraordinary place and has been a centre of pilgrimage for millennia drawing people from all over the world to visit and experience this fascinating centre of history, myth and legend. Today, in the twenty-first century, Glastonbury is emerging as a town that recognises and honours all beliefs and this is reflected in the wide and varied cultural experiences that are on offer in this vibrant, colourful town.

The visitor can often feel confused by the amazing variety of activities and to some people, the town can appear trivial and dominated by trinket shops. But by looking beneath the surface, a seeker can find a wealth of exciting new opportunities. In many ways, Glastonbury is an intense community in which the principles of a contemporary way of living are being experimented upon.

There is an abundance of books and internet sites, but it is not always easy to get an overview of just what is going on in this small Somerset town. The purpose of this little booklet is to give some background information upon which further research can be based.
