The Glastonbury Candle begins its pilgrimage around the town |

![]() |
15th July 2010 The Glastonbury Candle was ‘activated’ today in a moving ceremony that was attended by the PRC Board of Management and a few of our volunteers; each one representing a different faith, path or belief. The Candle will now make a pilgrimage around Glastonbury and spend time with the different community organisations, faiths and paths thatcontribute to the rich tapestry that is Glastonbury. |

“We ask that the Glastonbury Candle will be a constant reminder to all of us that we are all part of the One and help us to be accepting, open and loving towards all the people we meet, regardless of our different backgrounds and opinions. Let us learn to work together in a creative and non-competitive way to do what is best for Glastonbury and the wider world.” All members of the circle spoke a few words focussing on the intent of the candle to represent the weaving together of all the different, glorious threads that make up this remarkable place. Without each unique thread, Glastonbury would not be what it is. The candle has a Facebook Page if you would like to follow its journey and if you would like to purchase your very own Glastonbury Candle, visit our online shop. |

Academic Research |
13th July 2010 The PRC has been involved in assisting research projects for Oxford University and the Open University. We are now exploring the possibility of the PRC offering wider support to research projects in Glastonbury. Sandra Mckeever has asked for our support in mentioning on our website a research project which she is carrying out. As this project is properly accredited and supervised by the University of Bristol we feel that it is appropriate to put this information on our website. Below is the information which she has provided: As part of my MSc with the University of Bristol I am undertaking some research on individuals who are practicing pagans and their experience of counselling training. I am currently looking for another 2 or 3 research participants. My research is treated with confidentiality and monitored by my supervisor at the University of Bristol. If you feel you can help her in any way or would like to find out more, please email Sandra directly rather than the PRC. |

A Pilgrimage to Bride's Mound |
It was third time lucky for the volunteers' trip to Bride’s Mound! Heavy rain in summer meant postponing twice but we finally made it in September & the weather was perfect. A frequent question in the Centre is "How do I get to Bride’s Mound?" The trip was organised in order to enable volunteers who hadn’t yet made a visit, to explore the route and better advise our visitors. It also acted as a prelude and introduction to our new publication, A Pilgrimage to Bride’s Mound’. The booklet, with maps and photographs takes us on a journey to the Mound via St Margaret’s Chapel, Chaingate Spout, Fisher’s Hill (Castle of the Fisher King), the Glastonbury Thorn, Wearyall Hill and Pomparles Bridge (Pons Perilis) and includes the history and legends of these important places in the Glastonbury story. Sixteen volunteers attended and a great day was had by all. Morgana West, our Co-ordinator, introduced everyone to the myths and history of each stage on the journey. Anthony J. Kennish, who met us at the mound, gave dowsing instructions and volunteers wandered happily over the fields in glorious sunshine in the hunt for Bride’s Well. ‘A Pilgrimage to Bride’s Mound’ is available from our online shopand the Centre. Price: £5.99 |
