Handcrafted in Somerset From Local Yew Wood
Apples of Avalon

SACRED FRUIT OF AVALON

What better way to connect to Avalon than with these beautiful handcrafted wooden apples?

'Avalon' probably comes from the Welsh word afal meaning apple and is the legendary island featured in the Arthurian stories and presided over by nine women, chief of them being Morgan le Fey. In the pre-Christian tradition, Avalon was both an isle of the Dead and an Isle of the Blessed; a place where the souls of the dead would await rebirth. it was an earthly island that contained a gateway to the otherworld known as Annwn and was located in the west, surrounded by water. On this island were apple trees, the food of the inhabitants of the Otherworld.

THE MAGIC OF APPLES

The apple symbolises knowledge and no other food plays a more prominent role in religion, myth, folklore, and literature. Apples and apple wood can be used to connect us to the Otherworld of Avalon and aid us on the journey of Renewal and Transformation.

The qualities of 'Apple' teaches us how to be open and giving and to help us to keep our trust when times are difficult and as a symbol, can remind us that only by our own generosity can we open up the channels that will allow abundance to flow our way.

THE MAGIC OF YEW

The Yew is the sacred tree of Transformation and Rebirth. It can be used to assist Otherworld journeys and to increase openness of communication with the Otherworld, through an increased ability to understand and receive the messages which are being given to us by our guides and helpers.
